Skincare & Body Care Hacks Every Girl Should Know

Apply body lotion/ moisturiser while skin is still damp

As the back of the bottle says, you should always apply moisturizer to clean skin—and for maximum results, shortly after cleansing, before your skin is totally dry. Moisturizers are most effective if you use them while your skin is still damp because damp skin absorbs the product more readily. Also if your body lotion is thick or you are using a body butter then applying on damp skin allows the body lotion to spread evenly.

If a serum/cream doesn’t work on your face, use it on your body (it reduces wastage of the product)

the serum will quickly sink into your skin and leave it feeling smooth and soft. Always apply serums after cleansing skin, and before any additional creams or lotions you use as part of your skin care regime.

Use body oil for extra glow on your body ; can also mix with liquid highlighter

Now if you know me, you know how much I talk about oiling. But oil is not just good for our hair. See I personally love coconut body oil and another thing you can do with body oil is to highlight your makeup. So what you do is basically apply a little bit of body oil and top it top with some highlighter. What this does is increases the luminosity and gives you that ultra glow. I mostly do this on my collarbones to enhance them.

Face massage in the right direction while applying face oils

When we see someone with beautiful, youthful skin, our first question is “what products do you use?”. While the products are extremely important, so is the technique of using them.

Now I have oily, acne prone and sensitive skin so to save time and heal my skin, 15 minutes before going to bed every night I use just one great Ayurvedic oil and a face massage technique so that even if I don't do anything else/use more products or tools, just my fingers, my skin still looks amazing, healthy and youthful skin.

Begin by moving your fingers down the bridge of the nose, move it outwards towards your under eyes, all the way out to the cheekbones. Take your time and massage in circular motions. For your jawline, place the knuckles of the middle and index fingers and glide upwards. Don’t forget areas like the neck, brow area, chest. The trick is to go in small, outward motions for 5 minutes.

Use coconut oil as your shaving cream ; it keeps the body hydrated

The coconut oil acts as a protective lather between the blade and the skin, preventing irritation and razor burn. It not only acts as a shaving cream but an intense moisturizer as well. Plus, it also keeps your body smooth & shiny days after. You can also use regular hair conditioner instead of a shaving cream.

Layering Skincare

if you don’t layer your products in the right way, you could either make them totally ineffective or they could irritate your face. As a general rule of thumb, apply your products in this order : Cleanser, toner, serum, eye cream, spot treatment if any, moisturiser, face oil and sunscreen. you should work from the lightest to the heaviest. Start by putting the thinnest, fastest-absorbing product on your face first and layer the next heaviest over it, then the next, so that the thickest formula ends up on top.

- Keep switching up your Skincare

There are many factors that are to be considered while curating your skincare routine. Your skincare products don’t just stop working. If they don’t give you the same results they used to, it’s because your skin has changed. If you travel or relocate, the weather is going to have an impact on your skincare. As we get older, skin loses collagen, elastin, sebum, that keeps it naturally moisturized and healthy. If you don’t change your skincare routine to amp up the level of hydration your skin’s getting, more often than not, you’ll be stuck with dry skin. If you’ve found a skincare routine that works for you, stick with it. Only when something changes in your skin, you should update your routine to cater to its new needs.
